From 24 to 28 June 2019 Ljubljana hosted the 2019 Dragon Symposium. Dragon is a cooperation between the European Space Agency and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the P.R. China. The cooperation started in 2004, the latest phase Dragon 4, commenced in July 2016 in Wuhan and will be completed in 2020.

The event brought together the joint Sino-European teams after three years of activity. On a project-by-project basis, the 28 project teams reported on the progress of each project to date including the latest scientific results.

At the plenary opening, Prof. Krištof Oštir presented Earth Observation activities in Slovenia, showing that the Slovenian organizations are at the state-of-the-art in the field and that there is a large potential for cooperation in the frame of Dragon and European Space Agency in general.
