On Thursday, September 12, 2019, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy at the University of Ljubljana celebrated its 100th anniversary with a Solemn Academy. Distinguished guests from Slovenia and abroad participated in the event – among others the Head of the EC Representation in Slovenia dr. Zoran Stančič and the recipients of the jubilee awards. In the introduction, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Matjaž Mikoš, and Rector of the University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Igor Papič, addressed the audience. In their speeches, they highlighted the role of the faculty, both from the scientific and research perspective, as well as from the point of view of the impact on the economy and the overall development of the society.
At the event celebrating 100 years of its existence and activities, the Faculty bestowed awards to eminent persons for their exceptional long-term contribution to the Faculty’s development, for their top-level and outstanding achievements, and to institutions for their exceptional high-quality cooperation with the Faculty. Among the other, initiated by the chairs from the Department of Geodesy, the golden awards (Golden Plaques) were given to:
- TU München (Technische Universität München), represented by prof. Uwe Stilla;
- TU Wien (Technische Universität Wien), represented by doc. Gerhard Navratil;
- prof. Erik Stubkjær, Ålborg University, and
- prof. Andrej Pogačnik.
For the contribution to the development and recognition of the Faculty and the profession, silver plaques of the Faculty were also awarded. In the fields of geodesy and geoinformatics, silver awards (Silver Plaques) were given to the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, represented by prof.Oto Luthar, Geodetic Institute of Slovenia, represented by Milan Brajnik, assoc. prof. Anton Prosen and Marjan Jenko.
