From 12 to 19 June 2022, the Department of Geodetic Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering (UL FGG) hosted the project partners of the Erasmus+ GeoTAK project, which aims to develop interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes and strengthen research networks in the field of geoinformation technologies in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The participants were welcomed by Prof. Violeta Bokan Bosiljkov, UL FGG Dean, Assoc. Prof. Anka Lisec, Head of the Department of Geodetic Engineering, and Prof. Krištof Oštir, Head of the Built Environment PhD Programme at UL FGG.

The aim of the meeting in Ljubljana was to develop postgraduate curricula and build human resources capacity in the field of geoinformation technologies at the partner institutions in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The first part of the programme was devoted to practical training in geoinformation technologies (GIT) in land management, focusing on processing photogrammetric UAV data and analysing satellite remote sensing data for land cover mapping. The second part of the event was an intensive workshop aiming at preparing advanced doctoral study curricula in geoinformation technologies at the partner institutions in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

The programme was enriched by a technical excursion. First, we visited the international geoinformation company Flycom Technologies, where participants learned about projects and work processes in the field of mobile and aerospace spatial data acquisition and processing. At Planica Nordic Centre, the project design, allocation in the space and realisation of the centre were presented, with a special focus on the use of geospatial data in the design and construction of the objects. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the hosts from Flycom Technologies and Planica Nordic Centre for an extremely interesting programme!

The project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme [617695-EPP-1-2020-1- ES -EPPKA2- CBHE-JP]
