From 13 to 14 February 2023, the Department of Geodetic Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering (UL FGG) hosted the EduServ 2023 pre-course seminar, which was an introduction to the traditional 21st series of on-line courses organised by EuroSDR. The participants were welcomed by prof Joep Crompvoets, EuroSDR secretary-general, and assoc prof Anka Lisec, Head of the Department of Geodetic Engineering and EuroSDR Commission 5 Chair.

EuroSDR Educational Service (EduServ) annually offers four two-week e-learning courses in the field of GeoInformation (GI). The four two-week e-learning courses are scheduled from March to June 2023:

  • Integration of 3D City Models and BIM: GeoBIM (Tutors: Francesca Noardo from Open Geospatial Consortium Europe, Belgium; Ken Arroyo Ohori from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands);
  • 3D Point Cloud Classification for Mapping Purposes (Tutors: Michael Koelle and Norbert Haala from University of Stuttgart, Germany; Fabio Remondino from Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Italy);
  • Remote Sensing and Change Detection with Sentinel Time Series Data (Tutors: Krištof Oštir, Bujar Fetai, Matej Racic from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia);
  • Sustainable Business Models for Open Geospatial Data (Tutors: Joep Crompvoets from KU Leuven, Belgium; Frédéric Cantat from Institut National de l’Information Géographique et Forestière, IGN, France).

EuroSDR (European Spatial Data Research, formerly OEEPE) is a pan-European organisation established by International Treaty, as OEEPE, in 1953 in Paris in accordance with a recommendation passed by the Council of the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation. The educational programme is therefore on of the main pillars of the EuroSDR activities. The spatial data research interests of European countries are represented through the membership in EuroSDR of national organisations from their production and research sectors. Slovenia is a member since 2014.
